Graveyard seems quite a "grave" sounding word - cemetery seems more "peaceful" LOOOLZORZZ!!

Cemetary and Graveyard are synonyms. However a graveyard could also be a dumping ground for useless things, a garbage dump or scrapyard, for example.

I must say i prefer graveyard instead of cemetery.
And in TLK the elephant graveyard is prefered as "The Elephant Graveyard".
